Our Origins

The business was founded in 1976 by Gona D. Pillay and Ruby Pillay. Gona D. Pillay built the business based on sound advice, professionalism, honesty and dedication. Ruben Pillay joined the business in 1993 and became a member in 1998. In 2003, the company moved from being a closed corporation to a propriety limited company. Rubendran Pillay Insurance Brokers Pty Ltd was formed and trades as Gona D. Pillay Insurance Brokers – a name established as a professional insurance broker and well known in the insurance industry.

All our forms and documentation are created in-house so they may be altered at short notice to include considerations for new legislation that may affect the Insurer and Insured.

We have various documents regarding risk management and claims procedures, which are forwarded to our clients with their policy document to promote professionalism.

We employ the services of Fleetnet Insurance Administrators, ensuring service efficiency, debit order collections and the benefits of an internet based customizable computer database program.

We are fully FAIS complainant and have been prior to FAIS implementation.

We are Licensed Financial Services Providers.

Our Managing Director, Ruben Pillay, has 17 years of experience in the insurance industry as well as studies via the Insurance Institute of South Africa and courses on risk management.

We, aided by our experience, have formulated the methods in underwriting goods in transit insurance that have revolutionized the goods in transit insurance industry. Our brokerage has been instrumental in the creation of niche market products such as the Transport Broker Contingent Policy which is now offered by most goods in transit insurers.
